Green Sky, Blue Grass...

Happy Friday people!

Today's post is about a look I wore for a wedding over the weekend here in Assam!

April is the season of weddings here and I have attended more weddings in the last 2 weeks than I do the entire year when in Bangalore...but I hadn't brought along a lot of ethnic wear with me cause I knew that I could easily use mom's.

And when I saw this beautiful mekhela sador (traditional assamese saree), I knew I had to wear it.
But the only problem was I had no blouse. :(
So, decided to look at all the crop tops in my luggage and see if I could work something out!

Luckily I had this quirkbox top in the same color family and decided to give it a go.

Kept the the blouse subtle as the saree was too gorgeous and I didn't want to distract the attention from it...and this quirky top did just did. :D
I like combining pieces in the same color family and it often works...just like here!

Kept the accessories very simple with just some diamond jewelry and a super old neckpiece in black metal.

Assam is famous for its tea estates and what better location than this lush greenery for my pictures.

So what do you think about this look? Would love to hear about your mix n match stories...
Until next time, create your own sunshine x x

Amla aka Gooseberry - The Super Fruit!

Hello from the other side... (sorry but I just couldn't stop myself :P)
Hope you guys are having a wonderful week :)

If you follow me on Instagram, you must have seen what my mum did to my hair color...grrr...how she managed to change it from a light golden brown to a darker shade! So pissed...

Anyways, at least my hair fall has stopped and that I am grateful to her for.
And all this, with a mere fruit extract!

So I thought I should share the benefits of this small fruit for hair and scalp.
Its the "Amla" fruit, also known as Indian gooseberry and is easily available.
It's a super fruit...a potent source of Vitamin C, containing iron and calcium and full of antioxidants.

What I used on my hair was a pure extract of the fruit. My mum stores these fruits in an air tight bottle for a few months and then collects the pure extract for use as a hair tonic.
This is how it looks...

Everyone who uses this vouches for it! It almost instantly takes care of hair fall, grey hair and flaky scalp.
So if you are someone who wants healthy thick long and black hair, you have to try this natural remedy. If you don't have the patience to waits months for this extract use amla powder or you could even get the fruit and make a pulp of it and apply locally to your hair by itself or mixed with coconut oil. Leave it for 30 to 45 mins and wash off with your regular hair care products.

Although I wouldn't recommend this for colored hair personally, I have been told that the fresh fruit pulp wont harm the hair color.

This fruit also has skin benefits when consumed internally along with a range of other healing properties. Will talk about it in another post maybe. :)

But for now, I would say, start including this in your grocery list :P

Leaving you with a picture of my hair before and after applying the extract.

Hope you like reading this long post :)
Will be back soon with more such posts...until then...mwa mwa

The Decade Old Affair...

Hello...from the lovely land of Assam!
Hope you guys are doing well...

I am in this lovely Northeastern state of India and am having a really good time so far :)
The weather has been marvelous and I am definitely enjoying this break from the Bangalore sun :P
However, the pics I am sharing today were shot in my beautiful hot land, Bangalore.

This shimmery dress was a gift from the husband, 10 years back and I never really liked it :P...but couldn't throw it away. So the other day when I came across this while rearranging my closet, I decided to give it a shot.

Styled it with a white Bardot top and was quite pleased with what I saw. Completed the look with the tan brown sandals and a sling bag as it was a day look. (I feel it's better to stick to a single color family if you plan to do sparkle during the day time)

An important lesson I learnt after seeing these pics was to never get rid of my older possessions, never know when I can pair it in a different way and create a whole new look :P (Not like I need an excuse to be a hoarder...hee hee...)

Hope you liked it :)
I will try to write more frequently but cant promise exactly, cause holidays are demanding u see :P
But I promise to be hyperactive on Instagram and Facebook...so catch me there if you would like to!

Love you for all the support, means much x x
