And It Was All Yellow...

Happy Friday peeps!
Our fav part of the week is here. What plans?

I would love to stay put in at home and avoid the scorching heat, but unfortunately that's not possible. Have a few errands to run before I leave Bangalore for almost a month.

Frankly, I prefer it to be bright and sunny rather than cloudy and gloomy :)
And the same is the case with my wardrobe...have been obsessed with mustard this season!
My skin is quite tanned and I am loving how it glows on my skin. It's a color that suits fair and dark complexions alike and instantly lifts your look without any extra effort :P

For those of you who are not sure about the color yet, take one step at a time. Add a mustard blazer to your wardrobe to begin with and pair it with a black n white outfit! Or maybe a mustard skirt :)
Some of the colors that can be worn with mustard are brown, blue, white and of course our beloved black!
Let your mustard game begin cause come fall, the color will return as it is primarily seen as a fall color...and we will be way ahead by then! :P

Here are a few mustard looks I sported this season

My Gypsy Soul!

Hello, how have you been?
As for me, with my wandering soul, very restless!
I hate the idea of permanency, everything in me lusts for a new adventure everyday. While that is not quite possible ever so frequently, I try to quench that thirst by just dressing the part...the nomadic gypsy style! Oh, how I wish I was born a gypsy! (Maybe next lifetime :P)

While I would feature nowhere close to the talented gypsies, I feel this dress definitely does.

It's free flowing fabric, earthy print patterns and cold shoulders called out to me from a far corner of the store.
The best part - I bought it for just 10EURs..hee hee...it was my lucky day!

Styled it with a lot of layered beads and chains and a fringe bag to complete the look.

I swear I could live in this look forever!
Do you have a gypcian style? I would love to take a look, please share :)

Until then, lets stay stylish! <3

The Ethnic Twist

Hello my lovelies!
These pictures were taken at the onset of spring. Being an Assamese, spring is very special to me. It is synonymous with Bohag Bihu - the season of love, music, and beautiful seasonal flowers! :)

One such flower that adorns the courtyards of Assam is Sewali phool (night flowering jasmine) and the other night, as I was walking down the lanes of koramangla, I could smell it!!! And almost instantly got transported to Assam.

Hence I decided to do a post that was inspired by my Assamese roots!

As I looked through the various "mekhela-sadors" (Assamese 2 piece saree) in my wardrobe, I came across this special hand-woven black "mekhela sador" set that was gifted by my mum during one of her earlier visits. It's a traditional Mising (one of the many tribes of Assam) set.

Paired the beautiful "sador" with a maxi skirt and maxi top. Kept the accessories simple with just a boho inspired coin necklace and a silver choker.
This was my first try with ethnic fusion wear and frankly, quite love the results...

Will be travelling to Assam in the next few days and trying out a lot more of this...tell me if you like it.
It would be great to hear what you guys would like to see me do next :)

Until next time...lots of love x x

Monochromes and Red Lips!

Hello again! As always, it's lovely to have you here :)

Let's talk about a super easy, chic look for a hot hot day.

Summers in Bangalore are getting really bad; gone are those days where hot meant 30 degree Celsius. It's a perfect example of how we have ruined this paradise with those never ending skyscrapers, non-stop bustling engines...and most importantly, chopping up those beautiful, luscious shady green trees :( (for discussion on another day)

Anyway, we still have to get dressed and get out, and when we do...we must absolutely do it in style! :P
I love monochromes, and white is always on my mind during summers. Hence, what better than teaming up this white tank top with a short skirt (faux leather mightn't be the best to wear in summers but thankfully humidity isn't much of an issue here, plus thank God for the AC's) and throwing in a long shirt for some layer and sun cover.
And oh, my one true love...high heels <3

Added the orange sling bag to add a pop of color to my look.

I was too lazy for make-up and my cheat code for the day was "red lips and sunglasses"...it always works :P
Red lips instantly add a touch of glamour to almost any outfit and nude eyes compliment them; now all you need is a touch of mascara! I usually hide them behind a pair of dark glasses on a no eye makeup day :)

What do you think of this look? Anything that you would like to change?
Would love to hear from you...x x

Love,
Roop

White Shirt to my Rescue! :)

Hello Gorgeous! Thank you for stopping by, hope you are having a lovely day! :)
Today's post is about creating different looks with limited wardrobe choices.

Recently I was on a mini Europe trip with my family, a spring vacation...and guess what,I got my packing all wrong! :/
It was spring time and hence I packed nice spring summer dresses, shorts, sandals and heels only to reach there and find out that it was 10 degree Celsius (which is very cold for a Bangalore girl!). All I could do now was think of all the things I wish I had packed. :(

Anyway, I decided to move on and make the best use of what I had. So used this one white shirt I had in my luggage to its optimum use and created 3 day looks using the same piece and I quite like the results. Here's are my looks -

I was happy with how it turned out and will be using this shirt to create many more looks in the future.
So tell me, did you like it?
More importantly, do you own that wardrobe staple, classic white shirt? It's a must have...go get yours. :)

Until next time...loads of love x x

Barcelona - The Lovely Lively City!

Hello beautiful, how have you been?

As promised, today's post is more about my Barcelona spring trip and less of an outfit post.

Barcelona was the last leg of our Euro trip! We were taking the Eurorail from Madrid (which was supposed to be one of the highlights of our trip because of the husband's fascination with speed! :P)

It was a city I've always wanted to visit, cause somehow the name Barcelona, appealed a lot to me :P...and now when I did, I was mesmerized!

It's beautiful art, breathtaking architecture, gorgeous beaches, amazing tapas, lovely weather and amazing people...and oh, the famous Camp Nou (aka Barcelona football club), this city had it all!!!

Some of my city highlights were the Barcelona church (aka El Gothic), the Camp Nou stadium, the Sagrada Familia and the Casa Battlo...and of course the San Marti beach, while the Barcelona Aquarium I would give a miss.

Most of my looks for this city were layered (cause 15/16 degrees is still cold for a Bangalorean :P)

Although it's a lot slower than Madrid, yet it managed to charm the city girl in me with its mix of multicultural friendly people...and pets!

This place is going to haunt me for the rest of my time on this planet and I cannot wait to return to it.

A few things to remember while traveling to Spain (I guess applicable to most of Europe)
- Based on the number of days you stay in the city, get a 2/3 day pass for the metro. Its really convenient and cheaper than the taxis.
- Beware of pickpockets, unfortunately the city is filled with them. Always be alert, specially in the metro and never carry your wallets/precious items in your back pockets.
- Always carry comfortable stylish footwear, cause after from the metros, walking is the best mode of travel.
- Water is expensive. Find a local alimenticio (departmental store, preferably Chinese :P) and stock up on your water needs

Ok now I guess, I should shut up! :)
Please let me know if you liked it and what I could do better.

Until next time, love u Barcelona! <3
And you guys...stay chic.. x x

Love,
Roop

Tale of a Beautiful Barcelonian Spring Day

Hello beautiful people!

Spring, the season of love and beauty, when its neither too hot nor cold, is the perfect time to bring out the floral prints and even layer it up if you like...and that's what I did for my look on this windy spring day in Barcelona!

Wore this loose floral dress (bikini underneath ;) ) with my white brogues and added some layers with a long neutral jacket, which also shielded me from the cold breeze. Finally added some structure to my waist with a golden slim belt. Simple right! :P

I avoided any accessories as I was planning to take a swim in the sea and hence needed things that were easy to get rid off :)

It was a lovely day for some me time on the beach but the water was definitely too cold for my liking :P

Nothing can beat the warmth of the sun on your skin on a cold day.
I could sit there all day and make sand castles with my little one :D

Time to slip back into my loose dress and head back...with a grumpy face :P

So, do you like it? What could I have done better...let me know.

Until next time...keep it comfortably chic... x x
