NEW YEAR BLING!!!

Hey there!
How's December treating y'all?
Another eventful year comes to an end...and what better end than to get together with some of the most stylish girls across the nation and share some of their styles!
Hence when Shivani from thevelvetradio reached out with this idea of getting bloggers across different cities together, I couldn't resist and was thrilled to be a part of it.
And here's what we've got for you...
Hope you guys love it as much as we loved worked on it! :)

Blogger No 1: The Vintage Doll
Shivani Boruah (The mastermind behind this collab)

Shivani, the beautiful lady who made this digital collaboration possible, is a software engineer by profession and a vocalist/ musician by choice. Always being the experimental fashionista, she started her blog in August 2016 and has already worked on a lot of interesting projects in this short span of time. Her personal style inspiration-varies from a random lady street vendor to icons like Miranda Kerr!
She loves to quirk things up and likes to call it Experimental Fashion.
For her look here, she chose not to follow the trending glitter or velvet, instead go with something simple, Nude and Black and yet manage to give us all major fashion goals.
She says, “these colors are evergreen and hence playing with them and still taking a stand was what excited me”

She is wearing Fishnet stockings and a Fishnet jersey. A nude skirt as a tube dress (being the unconventional fashionista that she is) . A DIY headgear to add that vintage touch to the look and VOILA ! Similar colored heels and jewellery and you just cannot miss her black lipstick, it could kill by the looks of it !  She believes religiously in her motto- ‘Let ART Begin’ and that’s what defines her!

Blogger No 2: The Playful One
Urvi Mehta, Bangalore

The beautiful and oh-so-photogenic Urvi Mehta is an Image consultant and Fashion stylist by profession and she started her blog Gloss and Grunge as an extension of her personality, to influence and raise Fashion awareness. She draws inspiration from anything and everything and does not believe in copying trends off-the-rack.

For this year’s New Year dressing guide, she decided to channelize the PLAYFUL and mischievous side of her and can be seen wearing this very comfortable and sexy Forest Green backless Playsuit from Zara. She jazzed by the basic playsuit with the addition of a beautiful black statement choker, kept her hair side swept and wore bold dark Brown lips which compliments the color of her outfit. She completed this look by adding these comfortable gorgeous PERSPEX HEEL BOOTS from koovs to dance the night away without having sore feet.

HOT! Isn't she?

Blogger No 3: The Modern Vintage
Saakshi Mishra, Mumbai

Saakshi Mishra, the fashion graduate turned stylist from dream city of Mumbai is a style addict. I came across her profile in Instagram where she had styled this Camouflage jacket with a dress and a pair of sneakers and trust me, it was love at first sight for me. She just loves styling be it on models or herself . Styling is what keeps her happy. Here she chose to style herself in the most trending fabric this season - Satin while keeping a modern vintage theme.

This metallic bling is screams trendy and is for those who want to stand out in the crowd. If you are one of them, then Saakshi’s style is perfect for you . She loves the glaze of satin fabric and wine colors and so she decided to choose a satin bubble skirt and pleated tube top . This outfit has wine colors perfect for a party eve and no embellishments to keep it subtle. Saakshi’s style is chic yet edgy and guess what, this doll also has an online store where she designs and styles her own products, awesome right !

Blogger No 4: The Bond Girl
Kshipra Uniyal, New Delhi

This beautiful post graduate in international business says, and I quote, “ My blog Popofcitra showcases my take on fashion, trends, making trends, versatile styling, etc.”If you go through her blog you will see that mixing it up is her forte and she is a big fan of versatility and therefore sticking to one genre is not her way to go about things. She loves the Retro and Athleisure trends. Her style inspiration comes from icons like Blake Lively, Gigi Hadid, Olivia Palmero, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Models and various bloggers.

This hottie is someone you should follow if your style is defined by class and keeping it chic is the mantra for you. For this look, ‘The Bond Girl’ , she paired an off shoulder ruffle white top with silver pin stripes along with her teal thigh high slit skirt. The golden belt, heels and earrings gave outfit the required bling . Kshipra  kept the lips bold red and added a trench coat to add to the mysterious element of this look, embracing the feminine and sultry side with a dollop of boldness.

Blogger No 5: The Fauji Brat
Sharmistha Biswas, Mumbai

A 20 year old Media student from Mumbai, Sharmistha, tries to bring her Edgy BONG attitude to her blog.
Her style is about being comfortable. The rule is simple, she says – ‘I won’t wear something I am not comfortable in.  I like to dress comfortably. You can call it "Fuss free” and “on the go”. Adding her quirk to otherwise simple attires is what makes her standout from the rest.

For this look, she has layered an LBD with a statement camouflage jacket and added a pair of sneakers. Yes you heard it right, Sneakers! As she said, comfort is her thing and just look at her slaying it while being oh-so comfortable, Love it ! Sharmistha draws style inspiration from the goddess RIHANNA and don't we love her outfit already.

Blogger No 6: The Queen of Clubs
Rupjyoti Gogoi

As you all know, I am an ex Investment Banker turned full time mom and a part time blogger now. I started blogging to share my fashion experiments with like minded people and to discuss and draw inspiration for creating something stylist everyday. I believe that style is an extension of a person’s individuality and like to draw inspiration from everything around me. At heart I am a pure gypsy nomad and hence most of my styles have a boho touch to them.

My look here has been inspired by the iconic Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. A black dress, that was a steal from amazon.in, pulled back hair and gloves on my hand were all inspired by the legendary style icon. Kept my accessories minimal with only a silver choker to add some dimension to the all black look, added a pair of comfortable black block heeled booties and finally a dab of that bold lip color for that extra attention :P

Let's Layer it Up (hopefuly not like Chandler Bing :P)

Pleather Culottes - Forever 21, Cardigan - Lifestyle Stores, Heels - Koovs, Scarf - Local Store, Bustier - Buy Similar

Dress - Forever New, Shirt Dress - Forever 21, Bag - Aldo, Boots - Sears, Socks - DIY

Hello!
Its been a while since I wrote a post, looks like winter is now officially here for some of you guys.
Time to pull out those warm jackets and get your layering game on! :)

As for us in the Sothern region of India, we don't have a cold winter. It's the most pleasant time to be here. However that shouldn't  be a reason to not try some winter inspired looks!

So here are a couple of layering looks I tried inspired by all the beautiful women flaunting their amazing styles in those cold cold places.

The first look is more of a fall inspired look and hence I used the color yellow/mustard and pleather, falls most famous trends.
Personally I have never been too attracted to culottes merely because they take away from the height of a person, hence I like to pair mine with towering heels. For this look, I wanted keep the base neutral for that mustard to pop and hence used the nude lace bustier. Here the idea was also to use my existing wardrobe items, hence pulled out this old yellow/mustard cardigan and knotted it around my waist to give it a slight structure. Bought this whole look together by using a scarf knotted around the neck.

For the second look, I used a bodycon dress from French Connection (which is about 7 years old and I am so glad it still fits me so well) and threw in a Forever 21 shirt dress over it to create the layers. Used these grey suede boots I bought during my last visit to the US and wore a pair of DIY leg warmers underneath to complete my look.

Although both these looks are fall/winter inspired, they can easily be worn in the pleasant weather we are blessed with here in Bangalore.
Another fun fact - both these looks were created using existing wardrobe pieces that I've collected over the years as I am abig fan of recycling and getting the most out of each piece of clothing.

Hope you like them.

Thanks for stopping by love!

Forever Blushing!

(Dress - Forever New, Pumps - Dorothy Perkins on Jabong.com, Clutch - All About You by Deepika Padukone on Myntra.com, Floral headband - Forever21, Bracelet - Myntra.com)

Ever since I started blogging and posting pictures on Social Media, the one question I always get asked is "who clicks your pictures" which is actually the biggest challenge for me.
I don't have a photographer!

Living in Bangalore away from family with just the husband (and child) who has a regular 9-5 job along with thousands of other responsibilities, it gets very difficult for him to shoot me. But that shouldn't be a reason to stop doing what I love right! So what do I do? Well, I make my 5 year old take my pictures. They are definitely far from professional but I can never be grateful enough to have those tiny hands holding the heavy SLR and clicking away :D At least for now, that's how I deal with my biggest challenge (working on learning to work with a tripod)

What are some of the challenges you have faced as a blogger and how do you deal with them? Would love to hear and learn from your experiences.

Coming to my outfit, this was a recent buy from Forever New which was based on feedback from my instafam. As I love this color, I wanted to keep it simple and chic hence stuck to a single color palette here. Added heels and a clutch in the same color and a floral handband as the only accessory. This can be easily worn to a beach wedding or for a friends upcoming bachelorette or for a new year party.

I would be experimenting a lot with this color in the coming months so expect to see this dress on a repeat :)
Do you like it? What else could I have done better

Until then,
x x
